The usage regulations of the Chiyoda Campus Library have been amended as follows.

1. Change of material categories and loan periods

From February 16, 2022, we will add a new category of “Books for Study" to the materials in the Chiyoda Campus Library. We will change the loan period from “2 weeks" to “Same as the Main Library".
Except “Books for Study", graduate students can borrow books for two months and faculties can borrow books until the end of the fiscal year.
However, if a book is reserved for more than two months after the check-out date, we may ask you to return it.

The new loan period will be effective for loans and renewals after 10:00 a.m. on February 21, 2022.

2. Penalty for Overdue

Penalties for overdue materials will be applied from April 1, 2022.
The penalty period for materials borrowed from the Chiyoda Campus will be the same as that for the Central Library. During the penalty period, no new materials can be checked out or renewed. (The number of days you are late from the due date, up to 60 days, with a grace period of 10 days)

You have to return all library materials if you will graduate or retire in March 2022.
Please check your lending status on MyLibrary.

All library services, including MyLibrary, will expire on the end date of enrollment.
For those who are graduating or completing their studies, it will expire on March 18, 2022, and for those who are retiring, it will expire on the end date of employment.
The expire date is different from some services of Information Systems Management Headquarters, for example Gmail.

You may return them to the book return drop outside of the entrance or also mail them back.

  • Send them by traceable service. (ex: “Yu-Pack”, “Letter Pack” of Japan Post co., ltd.)
  • Wrap the books in a plastic bag to prevent rain and water.
  • Pay postage by yourself.

*If there is the product name area, please write “Return Book".

  • For faculty and staff who will continue to be enrolled, please contact the counter. (Weekdays 9:00 – 17:00)
  • For students who will continue to be enrolled with the same student ID(extension of enrollment period), we will extend the expiration date for the library using around March 10th.
    We will not extend the loan period, please renew with MyLibrary by yourself.
  • For students who go on to a master’s or doctoral program at Hitotsubashi University, or who will be employed at Hitotsubashi University, you can make a temporary user’s pass with an expiration date of March 31 if you have documents that can confirm your enrollment or employment (e.g., admission permit). Please bring your documents and consult at the counter. (Weekdays 9:00 – 17:00)
    You cannot take over the books on loan. Please return them once by March 31, 2022.
    *Penalties for overdue books will be carried over.

Due to the entrance examination for Hitotsubashi University, the Library will be closed on the following schedule.

  • February 25 and 26, 2022
  • March 12, 2022
  • March 22, 2022 *If supplementary exam is not held, the library will be open.
  • March 23, 2022 *Even if supplementary exam is not held, the library will be closed.

In addition, we may be late with the response to some applications and inquiries.

  • On 2/12 (Sat.), staff will not be available retrieving books on B1F.

  • On 2/25 (Fri.) and 26 (Sat.), the library main building and the Periodicals Annex will be closed all day for the entrance examinations.

Retrieval by Staff

If the “How to use" column indicate “Retrieval by Staff", please fill in the book borrowing slip and apply at the counter before 5 p.m.. The application received after 5 p.m., you will not be able to use.

If you know in advance that you will use materials on a restricted floor, please apply accordance with “Reserving Stack Area Materials."

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, and appreciate your cooperation.

Due to heavy snowfall, opening hours of library might change on February 10-11.

2/10: Library may be closed at the discretion of the library director.

2/11: Library may be closed if a alarm is issued in Kunitachi City as follows, or if the JR Chuo lines and JR Nambu lines including the area of Kunitachi City are suspended.

  1. If an alarm is issued in Kunitachi City as of 7:00 a.m.
    The library will be temporarily closed from the regular opening time until 1:00 p.m.
  2. If an alarm is issued in Kunitachi City as of 11:00 a.m.
    The library will be temporarily closed from 1:00 p.m. to the regular closing time.
  3. If an alarm is issued in Kunitachi City at 1:00 p.m.
    The library will be temporarily closed from 3:00 p.m. to the regular closing time.
  4. If an alarm is issued in Kunitachi City at 3:00 p.m.
    The library will be temporarily closed from 5:00 p.m. to the regular closing time.
