About Kodaira Research Library and Archives
Kodaira Research Library and Archives is a library specializing in the research and preservation of library materials, and is located at the Kodaira International Campus.
Materials held at the library are provided, basically, through delivery service upon requests in advance, to use at the Hitotsubashi University Library in Kunitachi Campus or at the Chiyoda Campus Library. Faculty members and students of Hitotsubashi University are able to make a reservation in advance and visit the Kodaira Research Library and Archives.

Delivery service for University members
- Materials unavailable in e-journals or databases are delivered upon requests to the Hitotsubashi University Library in Kunitachi Campus or to the Chiyoda Campus Library. (※ Searching for e-journals)
- Basically, materials are delivered twice a week (except the year-end and New-Year holiday season). It takes around 3 to 7 days to deliver the requested materials. It may take more days if some delay occurs on conditions of the postal service. We thank you for your understanding.
- Materials, except “In-library use only", ordered from Kodaira Research library can be borrowed and photocopied just like the other library materials.
How to make a request
Students and faculty of Hitotsubashi University can make requests using HERMES-Catalog (Online library catalog).
- Please search the material you need by HERMES-Catalog display the detailed screen, and make your request by clicking the “Reserve” button.
- The material will be kept at the counter of the Hitotsubashi University library or Chiyoda library for one week after arrival.
- For the materials “In-library use only", the “Reserve" button is not displayed. Please apply at the counter of the Main Library or the Chiyoda Campus Library by filling out the reservation application form in the application hours bellow.

Delivery service for Visitors
Off-campus users (including the special A or B user ID holders) are available to use the materials in the Kodaira Research Library and Archives, only when there is no other library that hold the material nor available in e-journals and databases. The materials of Kodaira can only be ordered to the Hitotsubashi University Library and used within the library in Kunitachi Campus.
Application Procedure
- In the subject line of the email, please write “Request for ordering materials of Kodaira Research Library and Archives“.
- Please include the following information in the body of the email. Please use HERMES-Catalog (Hitotsubashi University Library Catalog) to check the call number and barcode number.
- Your name:
- Contact method (e-mail address, cell phone, fax, etc.):
- Title of the material you wish to use (if it is a journal or annual report, please include the volume number):
- Call number:
- Barcode number:
- Desired date of use:
- Please send your request to the following e-mail address.
lib-service-order at ad.hit-u.ac.jp (replace “at" with “@") - We will contact you by e-mail when the materials are ready. We will keep the materials for one week, so please come to the library during that time.
You can browse materials at Hitotsubashi University Library in Kunitachi Campus.
Reception time (time of receipt of e-mail) and estimated time of delivery
As a rule, materials are delivered twice a week, and it takes about 3-6 days to order materials.
- Requests received after 4:45 p.m. on Monday to 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday will be delivered on Friday afternoon or later.
- Requests received after 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday and before 4:45 p.m. on the following Monday will be delivered after Wednesday afternoon.

Please note that there may be a delay in delivery due to postal services.
- If you have a Special User ID card (A)(B), please apply using this method.
- If you have no e-mail address, please fill out the reservation form and send it by fax (042-580-8251) or mail.
- If you have a Special User ID card (B), you can also use the Kodaira Research Library and Archives for visiting. Please refer to “Visiting to Kodaira (Reservation required)."
Visiting to Kodaira (Reservation required)
In case you would like to use large amount of materials at once or it is difficult to specify the volume/number of the material you need, you may visit the Kodaira Research Library and Archives. However, advance reservations are required.
Who can visit
Users who can visit the Kodaira Research Library are limited to those who are qualified to enter the stack areas in the Hitotsubashi University Library by the Rule on Use of the Hitotsubashi University Library. When you visit, please be sure to show your ID card or the library user card.

Application procedure
Due to facility management constraints, users cannot enter the Kodaira Research Library and Archives without reservation. Please make a reservation as follows.

Hours of the reservation email
Visit on Tuesdays: Please make a reservation by the previous day (Monday), 16:45.
Visit on Thursdays: Please make a reservation by the previous day (Wednesday), 16:45.
If “the previous day" stated above is a holiday, please apply by 16:45 on the weekday before the holiday.
Loan
Materials can be borrowed from the Kodaira Research Library and Archives (except the materials in-library use only).
- The ID card or the library user card is required for checking out the materials.
- Loan period is the same as the collections of the Hitotsubashi University Library in Kunitachi Campus.
- The number of books on loan is combined with those of the Hitotsubashi University Library in Kunitachi Campus.
- Please return materials at the Hitotsubashi University Library in Kunitachi Campus or at the Chiyoda Campus Library. The Kodaira Research Library and Archives is not able to accept returning materials.
Photocopy
There is no copy machine available for visitors in the Kodaira Research Library and Archives.
If you require the photocopy of the materials, you may apply delivering materials to Hitotsubashi University Library in Kunitachi Campus or Chiyoda Campus Library and copy by yourself at there.
