Payment can be made in the following ways.

Requesting photocopies from other libraries

  • You can request via MyLibrary.
  • A fee will be charged.
  • You can request photocopies to the extent permitted by the Copyright Law restrictions.

Requesting books on Interlibrary Loan from other libraries

  • You can request via MyLibrary.
  • A fee will be charged.
  • You cannot borrow periodicals.
  • Lenders may restrict material uses. For example, some materials can be used and viewed only within the library.

Public Subsidy Service for Graduate Students’ Interlibrary Loan

  • For loans only.
  • During the academic year (since April 1): up to 5 books per person free.
  • The service will end on January 31
  • When our budget will reach the maximum limit, the service will end before January 31.
  • Not available for loans from National Diet Library or Overseas Libraries.

How to pay at your expense

  • Please pay at the Help Desk when you pick up your copies or books, in cash or by mobile payment (PayPay or LINE Pay).
  • Cash payment is accepted only at the Help Desk.
  • The Help Desk is open from 9:00-17:00 on weekdays (Term time) / 9:00-12:00; 13:00-17:00 on weekdays (School break). You can pick up copies and books at the counter outside Help Desk opening time when cash payment is not required.
  • If payment is to be made by invoice, voucher, etc., as specified by the library holding the item, we will confirm with the applicant.
Note for mobile payment
  • The mobile payment services available are only for PayPay and LINE Pay.
  • Mobile payment can only be used for personal expenditure. It cannot be used for public expenses or when the payment method other than cash is specified.
  • Receipts will not be issued. If you need a receipt, please pay in cash.
  • Multiple payment methods (PayPay and cash, PayPay and LINE Pay, etc.) cannot be used together.
  • If you have paid the wrong amount, refunds are possible but not immediately.
  • We cannot answer about how to operate the app or the details of each service. Please refer to the service provider’s user guide, etc.

How to pay at the faculty activity’s expense

  • When applying through MyLibrary, please select “University Funds" for “Payment method".
  • If the option does not appear, please check with your graduate school office for budget availability and indicate in the “Comments" that you wish to pay at the faculty activity’s expense.
  • Fees will be transferred later.

How to pay by external funds

You can use external funds such as Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research and donations to pay for photocopies and books from other universities’ libraries. Please check the details below before using this service.

Reception Period

  • For both Photocopy Interlibrary Loan: Until the end of December
  • For requests for photocopying to the National Diet Library or overseas institutions, the Help Desk will provide you with an invoice along with materials. Please make payment at each department as soon as possible.
  • After the above period, please pay by “Photocopy fee (school expense)" or “Private expense".

Notes when applying

To apply from MyLibrary

  • If you are a faculty member, for convenience, please select “Photocopy fee (external funds)" in “Payment". If you are a graduate student, please select “Private expense".
  • In the “Comments" column, please enter the “Jurisdiction, Source, and Project name" of external funds to be used.
  • If you do not know the “Jurisdiction, Source, and Project name" of external funds, please check with your departmental treasurer.
  • If it is difficult to identify the project with the information you provide, we may change the budget to “Photocopy fee (school expenses)" or “Private expenses.

To apply at the Help Desk

  • Please check “External funds" in the “Payment category" of the “Application form for ILL (Photocopying)" or “Application form for ILL (Loan)".
  • On the back of the application form, enter the “Jurisdiction, Source, and Project name" of external funds to be used.
  • If you do not know the “Jurisdiction, Source, and Project name" of external funds, please check with your departmental treasurer.
  • If it is difficult to identify the project with the information you provide, we may change the budget to “Photocopy fee (school expenses)" or “Private expenses.
