LIBRARY SERVICES AFTER MONDAY, JUNE 15, 2020

Chiyoda Campus Library has been temporarily closed since April 10 to prevent the spread of the COVID-19. After Monday, June 15, The faculty members and the students of the university can borrow books on request in advance. Carrels and shelves are not accessible. Please refrain from staying for long time.

PRECAUTIONS FOR VISITORS

  • A borrowing request must be made in advance via MyLibrary or e-mail.
  • Only the staff entrance is accessible
  • Please refrain from entering the library if you are unwell, such as fever, cough, feeling lethargic, or loss of smell and taste.
  • Please wear a mask when you come to the library. If you are unable to wear it, please cooperate with Cough Etiquette.
  • Please refrain from staying for long time. Users who want to read a non-circulating material or make a photocopy may stay up to two hours during the library hours.

CHECKOUT

Members of the university can check out and make photocopies of materials on request in advance.
Hours:
1:15pm-4:00pm, 5:00pm-8:15pm (until July 21, and after Sep. 14)
11:30am-2:30pm, 3:30pm-6:30pm (from July July 22 through Sep. 11)
(Users must leave the library at the closing times.)

How to apply

  1. Log in to MyLibrary, search the material you want, show the detailed record on the screen, and make a reservation by clicking on the “Reserve” icon.
  2. Select “Chiyoda Campus―Reserve” as the pick-up library. (The option on the pull-down menu may not appear until June 14.)
  3. As soon as the material is ready, an e-mail notice will be sent. Please pick up the material during the hours. The material will be held at the service desk for seven days.
  4. Please show the notice (print or screen) when you pick up the material.
  5. Please make a request at least one day before the date you wish to use the material. After the date change, your request will be processed the next business day.

Requested materials are supposed to be ready on the next business day but it may take longer depending on the work schedule of the staff.

For non-circulating materials, please send a request via e-mail to chiyoda at lib.hit-u.ac.jp with the subject “Advance reservation of materials” including:
(1) Name
(2) Student ID or Faculty/Staff number
(3) The date you want to visit the library
(4) Bibiographic information such as title and volume number (Please search HERMES-Catalog)
(5) Location (Please search HERMES-Catalog)
(6) Call number (Please search HERMES-Catalog)
(7) Item ID (9-digit number with a check digit) (Please search HERMES-Catalog)

MAXIMUM NUMBER OF ITEMS

The maximum numbers of items that may be checked out for students are temporarily relaxed as follows
Graduate students: 60 items
Undergraduate students: 20 items
Faculty and staff: 70 items

PHOTOCOPY

Please make a request in advance via MyLibrary (circulating materials) or via e-mail (non-circulating materials) as mentioned above. Please pick up the item and make a photocopy yourself. Users may stay up to two hours during the library hours.

MASTER THESES

Please make a request in advance via e-mail as mentioned above. If you cannot identify the item, please write the author’s name, supervisor’s name, or keywords that represent the content. Users may stay up to two hours during the library hours.

BOOK RETURN

Please return the items at the library service desk during the library hours.

RESERVATION, INTER-CAMPUS DELIVERY

Reservation and inter-campus delivery will be resumed on Monday, June 15. (Please select “Chiyoda Campus" (NOT “Chiyoda Campus―Reserve”) as the pick-up library.)

RENEWAL OF THE DUE DATE

Items that are not overdue and not reserved can be renewed more than three times. A reminder will be sent three days before the due date. Renewal can be made by logging in to MyLibrary

ALUMNI, VISITORS

Visitors, including alumni, may not use the library.

Photocopy

There is a card-operated photocopier for graduate students in the library (to be used only for library materials).
The copyright law should be observed.

Photocopy Delivery Requests
