Use of External Library Materials
If the materials you require are not held by the library, the use of external libraries is possible. When making requests to use other libraries, please do so only after thoroughly checking the collections of Hitotsubashi University Library.
Investigating which library has the materials you require can be done via the online search services available at the reference corner, such as the National Institute of Informatics Information Services (NACSIS Webcat/Webcat Plus), or via the comprehensive catalog of foreign books. First look up whether there is a library that has the materials, and if so, then look up which library to use.
Visiting Other Libraries (Viewing Only)
Use of national libraries is possible for faculty/postgraduate students upon presentation of identification.
Since corporatization, undergraduate students as a rule no longer require a letter of introduction, but depending on the library concerned, advance notice may be required. Please inquire at the Help Desk.
Private university and private libraries still require a separate letter of introduction. Letters of introduction are issued at the Help Desk. Before a letter of introduction can be issued, the library to be visited will need to check its holdings, so please apply 3-5 days before your planned visit.
Note that the Renmin University of China Library, Tsuda College Library, International Christian University Library, the Keio University Mita Media Center, the Waseda University Central Library, can be used upon presentation of a faculty (full-time only) or student ID.
Letters of introduction can also be issued for library use after returning from periods of extended leave.
Please inquire at the Help Desk for conditions of use (required documents, library holidays and opening hours) for the relevant library.

Please send us the e-mail by fully entering the following information:

- Name of library you wish to visit
- Date of visit (must be specified)
- Title(s) of materials you wish to view (enter ISBN, ISSN if also known).

Please apply 3～5 days before your planned visit.
We will issue the Letter of Introduction at the Help Desk during opening hour.
